Students are expected to log into the Learning Management System at least five days per week (excluding holidays and designated breaks). Students may log in any time throughout the day. As a general rule of thumb, students should work at least one hour a day in each course. This will ensure that you complete your courses in a timely manner.

Hourly Attendance Requirements

The Ohio Department of Education now requires QDA (and all blended learning and eSchools) to document student attendance in an hourly format. Students should work 5.5 hours per day for five days a week. Students are expected to have 920 hours by the last day of school.

How are my hours logged?

  1. When you log into the QDA Learning Management System your login time and duration is captured.  Students should stay logged into the QDA LMS while they are completing their coursework or working on educational activities.
  2. When you access your courses your login and duration is captured.
  3. Offline Logs - Students who work primarily offline should be completing a paper calendar that documents their time. Students should submit these logs as soon as the month concludes.
  4. Extended Offline Learning Logs - Student who work offline for an extended period of time may enter their time here.

QDA will use all of the above documentation to calculate a student's attendance.

Excused Absences

Students may be absent for legitimate reason. The following list enumerates reasons for excused absence from school according to Ohio attendance laws:

  • Personal Illness (Medical documentation required)
  • Death of a relative
  • Emergency (Validity determined by the principal)
  • Observation of religious holidays
  • Doctor/dentist appointment (Documentation must be provided after the appointment)
  • Court appearances verified by subpoenas or official notifications

Unexcused Absences

Unexcused absences may have bot academic and disciplinary consequences.

Examples of Unexcused Absences:

  • Any absence without a written excuse from the parent/guardian.
  • Absences which are not considered to be legitimate under Ohio attendance laws and/or district policy.
    • Technical issues: laptop not working, Internet outage, etc.

Planned Absences

If you are going to be absent, you must notify QDA and email each of your teachers before you are off.

Additional Information

Please refer to the Student Handbook for additional information or contact the QDA office. Please note: While you may have your username and password to log directly into your courses, please DO NOT skip signing into the LMS. Failure to sign into the LMS may result in you not receiving attendance for the day.
